Yvonne Foster:

Beloved Mom and Nana, was born on August 19th, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio, as the only child to the union of Bernice Foster (Walker) and Peter George Foster—both of who have gone to glory.  Yvonne was educated in the Cleveland Public School District and graduated from Glenville High School in 1976. She would then go on to work various jobs and would often recount the proud moment when she was able to buy her mother her first color television—that was a big deal in those days.

Yvonne later joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in Oakwood Village, Ohio, where she was active for many years as a member and administrator. She found much solace, strength and guidance throughout her time there.

Yvonne concurrently enrolled at Cuyahoga Community College, where she took night classes to earn a degree in Applied Business. She would go on to do more administrative work, ultimately taking her talents to The Cleveland Natural History Museum, leading her team on an executive level. There, she fostered relationships and was happy to explore her passions for science, nature and human health.

Yvonne was always known for her great fashion sense, class, big blonde hair and gracing dance floors throughout her hometown. She was truly a quick-witted, outgoing, one-of-a-kind lady. She enjoyed decorating her home, singing, and she had always placed importance on spending time with family and friends. The holidays delighted Yvonne, as she took opportunities to cook delicious meals, deck the halls and spread love. Yvonne was a beloved Mother, Nana and Friend.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her only child and daughter, India Foster, her two grandbabies, Glory and Brave Simpson, and many cousins and friends.

If Roses Grow in Heaven

If roses grow in heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother’s arms
and tell her they’re from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there’s an ache within my heart
that will never go away.

“My mommy is sad. She still wants to be with you, Nana. She could never live without a mom.”

— Glory Simpson, 6

“Nana was my girl.!”

— Brave Simpson, 5

“To my mother in heaven, thank you for always loving me and guiding me. Even though you are no longer here with me I can still feel your love guiding me. You are always in my heart. I love you and miss you dearly.”

Thank you.

Our hearts have been made to rejoice during the illness and passing of our beloved Yvonne, by the many acts of kindness extended to our family.
